At the ripe old age of eight, Zach Frier has tasted two big BMX racing victories.
This past weekend, the young Abbotsford BMX Club member took first place at the B.C. championships, held in Surrey. Frier raced in the 9 Males category.
"Zach started racing about three years ago. The first time he went to Abbotsford Track he was hooked," said Frier's mother Lisa Hartley. "Every year he strives to do better."

Along with riding with the local club, Frier already has a sponsor, No Hype Bikes.
"It's kind of cool because BMXing is an up-and-coming sport and it is going to be in the Olympics," said Hartley.
Frier is coming off a first-place performance at the Canadian Westerns in Aidrie, Alta., in May. Frier practises his riding three times a week at a number of courses and his goal is to someday compete at the Olympics.
The Abbotsford BMX Club has a couple of big events ahead as they will be hosting the BC Provincial Cup Finals Sept. 20. |
